Lunaria: the all-new, high-performing summer cabbage

The all-new summer cabbage to transplant from September to January, Lunaria has been trialled in Gauteng, the North West, Limpopo, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal areas as C 1314, and has performed very well against opposition varieties. Lunaria is a late-maturing cabbage with good internal structure and good holdability in the field. Lunaria has a round head with an average weight of between 4 kg and 6 kg. Maturing is from 90 – 100 days from transplanting. It can tolerate high summer temperatures and has very good black rot resistance under field conditions.

Lunaria’s characteristics include a large frame with an upright leaf habit. A plant population of 28,000 plants per ha is recommended for single-head marketing and 35,000 plants per ha for bags.
