Miyon doing well in the Bosveld

Jaco Wagner from XDSL Trading was extremely happy with the MIYON he planted. MIYON is a semi-determinate tomato hybrid. The MIYON was transplanted on 15 February 2021 in the Tolwe area with a plant population of 13 300 plants per hectare. Plant spacing was 300mm in the row and 2,5m between the rows. The MIYON did well with its resistance to disease and Jaco was impressed with the strong growth habit and excellent leaf cover, which helped protect the fruit against the sun. The fruit set was very good and although it was a difficult season with high temperatures, the MIYON had six fruits per truss.

MIYON is specially selected for the following segments:

1. Determinate round fresh market

2. Open-field production

3. Spring and summer

4. Where TYLCV resistance is needed

5. Uniformity and quality are important

Its’ disease-resistance is favourable for the grower:
HR – Verticillium Wilt (Va, Vd), Fusarium Wilt (Fol 1, 2), Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV).
IR – Root-knot Nematodes (Ma, Mi, Mj) Powdery Mildew (Lt) Bacterial Wilt (Rs), Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV) Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV).
