Veronica was planted in northeastern Namibia (approximately 30km from Grootfontein) alongside other Starke Ayres and opposition varieties on 2 March 2021.
The cultivar produced onions of good quality, colour and size, with firm round- to globe-shaped onions. The excellent tanned colour of the onion makes it more attractive and will suit the export market as well.
Of the different cultivars sown in the same time slot, Veronica was very competitive and showed one of the highest yields of all with nearly 80% being medium- to medium-large in size – the preferred size for the Namibian market.
