RENKA: Performance all the way to the top

This past summer, RENKA was planted at Up To Date Farms in the Lutzville area at the end of October, and harvested from January to April 2020. It delivered excellent results, and Jacques Mollentze from Up to Date Farms confirmed that RENKA was possibly the most promising new variety in several years! Larger plantings are planned for the coming season.

What makes RENKA so special?

They are healthy, strong, well-balanced plants with excellent fruit set and size all the way to the top wire. The fruit size of 160g-200g was combined with outstanding quality, while top-notch fruit set and consistent size was achieved up to the wire. The fruits were deep oblate in shape, with thick fruit walls and very good firmness. The external and internal colour was good and the stem attachment exceptionally neat in appearance.

In addition, RENKA offers a strong disease-resistance package that includes the following:

High resistance: Verticillium Wilt (Va, Vd), Fusarium Wilt (Fol:1-3), Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV).

Intermediate resistance: Root-Knot Nematodes (Ma, Mi, Mj), Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV), Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV).

RENKA is definitely a winner and all growers who are looking for quality, yield and improved disease-resistance should make this hybrid part of their success.
