RUBY KING has a medium-large frame size and good head size. Plant population will influence head size. Head Characteristics: RUBY KING produces firm, round heads. Heads are uniform. Internal quality of the head is excellent.
Fertilization Guidelines: This is a general guide, grower conditions vary and a soil analysis is highly recommended. N: 150 to 200kg/ha. 70 to 90 kg/ha incorporated preplant. Top dress the balance as follows: 7,14 and 28 days after transplanting (no later). P: 50 kg/ha incorporated preplant. K: 120 kg/ha incorporate preplant. Soil pH: 6 - 6,8.
This variety shows good adaptability for year-round production in certain areas. Disease Resistance: Field observation indicates some resistance to black rot.
