A gem squash hybrid with a compact growth-habit

Type:

A Gem Squash hybrid.

Maturity:

Early maturing. Approximately 50 - 60 days to maturity for Baby Gems, and 70 - 80 days for mature fruit.

Plant Characteristics:

A vigorous and productive plant with very short internodes. This results in shorter runners, enabling higher plant densities per hectare and easier management. PINNACLE should be planted at 20,000 plants/ha in early summer and 15,000 - 18,000 plants/ ha in winter. Plants flower over a very concentrated period. Local bee populations are normally insufficient to visit every flower. It is advisable to place 4 bee hives per hectare to realise the full potential of this variety.

Fruit Characteristics:

An attractive round dark green fruit with good transport and storage ability; PINNACLE retains it’s dark green fruit colour longer than Rolet when stored. PINNACLE produces excellent quality fruit for prepacking at a baby stage as well as full maturity. The fruit have a small blossom end scar and a sweet taste when harvested as baby gems, the mature fruit have a pleasant nutty flavour.
