Type:

A hybrid cantaloupe melon. Eastern Shipper external appearance and Western Shipper internal qualities, referred to as extended shelf life.

Maturity:

Main season 90 - 95 days.

Plant Characteristics:

A vigorous plant with a healthy leaf cover that protects maturing fruits well against sunburn. Flowers and sets fruit over a prolonged period to give high yield.

Fruit Characteristics:

Harvest indicators include net development, the change of the rind colour from olive green to beige, and cracking around the peduncle. Large sized fruit with weight of 1.8 – 3.0 kg. The shape is round to slightly oval with a medium to dense net. GATSBY has salmon-orange flesh colour, firm flesh texture with a medium seed cavity and a thin green rind, ensuring a high recovery rate.

Adaption:

GATSBY is a widely adaptable and performs well in spring and summer plantings. It can also perform well during the winter in warm climates.
