A strongly determinate processing tomato hybrid with a concentrated set suited to open-field production.
Maturity:
Early maturing variety. In Summer plantings the first fruit will mature in 75 - 80 days after transplanting. The date for harvesting may vary by as much as 10 days between early and late season plantings. This needs to be taken into consideration when planning planting schedules under different growing conditions.
Plant Characteristics:
STAR 9063 grow compact and highly controllable in the rows and therefore adaptable to mechanical harvesting. Exceptional leaf cover on a highly disease tolerant plant.
Fruit Characteristics:
STAR 9063 has a very high quality blocky/pear fruit with an average mass of 90 - 100 g. Fruit are deep red colour with thick walls, good flavour and no green shoulders. STAR 9063 have a very high marketable yield potential with a high percentage BRIX, CR and TSS. Although it’s a jointed variety, a very high percentage clean pick could be expected. STAR 9063 have a very concentrated fruit set and bear very uniform fruit and although it’s a jointed variety, a very high percentage clean pick could be expected making this variety highly suitable for mechanical harvesting in the processing industry.
Plant Population:
STAR 9063 were selected as a un trellised type for the processing industry. Plant population should range between between 20,000 – 35,000 plants per hectare. The in-row spacing should not be less than 35cm.
Disease Resistance:
HR: Verticillium Wilt (Va,Vd), Fusarium Wilt (Fol 1, 2), Bacterial Wilt (Rs), Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV).
IR: Root-knot Nematodes (Ma, Mi,Mj), Powdery Mildew (Lt).
